First Skills audit for the D321 Foundation Production

When we were set the task to produce the Preliminary exercise, I was really looking forward to it. Being able to apply what we have learnt in previous lectures to creating our own small production. On the first day we were put into our Production groups, I was really happy with who I was put with. As I group I feel we can use each others strengths to produce a high quality piece. Due to the fact that I have had experience with certain editing software before, I will be able to input my ideas and technical skills into the production. With anything I am involved in, I like to make sure that the final product is done to a High quality as well as being unique.
So far the assignment has helped me develop my skills in many different aspects of the assignment, throughout the planning and research for the preliminary exercise, my time management of independent research has improved, to create a more accurate production, using the correct codes and conventions of that genre. This development started once we began our Brain Storm of ideas of the Production. While brain storming as a group we were set on the idea of setting our Preliminary exercise in an Asylum/Institution. Straight away we, as a group, were overall very enthusiastic. Ideas for the Storyboard and script came together extremely quickly. With these ideas we needed to find suitable locations and Props. As a group we went around the College looking for locations and rooms that we could use to film in. Once we found where we were going to be filming, we discussed the Props needed and how many actors we needed. Holli Bash provided one of the key Props (Straight Jacket) as well as one of the actors. I went on to find some more Props and the other two actors. Asking two friends from college if they would participate in the production (Wednesday 27th January). I also went on to find some Props, to create a more realistic/believable setting; I was able to get a stethoscope and some Medical Documents. By the end of Tuesday 26th January we were all prepared and ready to Film the next day.
Overall I felt the planning went really smooth, all members of the group knew what they were doing all the way through till the Filming date. All working together we were able to work in a very relaxed state, not having to worry if one of the members would forget or not reach the deadline.
